About Me
Serving as the Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery, I am an Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. I received my medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. I completed my surgical internship and residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, followed by fellowship training in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. I joined the department from after serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine.
Clinically, I specialize in a broad range of minimally invasive and open procedures related to head and neck cancers, as well as complex head and neck reconstruction. I provide comprehensive management of benign and malignant head and neck tumors, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and skin cancer. I am particularly interested in minimally invasive techniques, and received additional training in transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and transoral laser microsurgery (TLM). I am also comprehensively trained in the full range of reconstructive procedures, including microvascular free flap reconstruction, for complex head and neck defects after cancer or traumatic injury.
I am actively engaged in clinical head and neck cancer research with specific interests in investigating patient outcomes as they relate to head and neck cancers and microvascular reconstruction. I have given presentations nationally and internationally, and have published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals. I received several awards for my research from the Triological Society, the Midwest Head and Neck Cancer Consortium, and my training programs. I am an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society, serving on national committees with these organizations.
