Foundation for The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Expands Leadership Team

Leader in Affordable Housing and Health Named to Board of Trustees

New Brunswick, N.J.The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) Foundation has named Christiana Foglio of Trenton to its Board of Trustees. The CINJ Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization devoted to raising funds to support CINJ, which is a Center of Excellence of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. CINJ is New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, an elite distinction held by only 40 centers in the country.

In November 2009, Christiana Foglio was named President of Care One Companies, a $1.2 billion dollar senior care company with 16,000 employees. The role complements her long history in the provision of independent senior residences as the founder and CEO of Community Investment Strategies, Inc. (CIS), an affordable housing developer. Foglio previously served in the administrations of two governors as executive director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency and served as chair of the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing.  She also owns and manages The Clare Estate, an assisted living community.

While new to the New Brunswick-based CINJ Foundation Board of Trustees, Foglio is no stranger to the landscape of the “Hub City.” Foglio is considered a driving force behind New Brunswick’s economic redevelopment, having served as Director of Policy Planning and Economic Development for the city, as well as president of the New Brunswick Development Corporation, a not-for-profit real estate development company.

Foglio holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University, and serves as a board member to the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey, as well as the Trenton YWCA.
