Research Interests

  • PI of the Princeton Physical Sciences Oncology Center (P-PS-OC) which is part of a network of 12 Centers funded by the NCI. Each of the awarded PS-OCs, individually and together, will support and nurture a trans-disciplinary environment and promote research that: (1) originates and tests novel, non-traditional physical-sciences based approaches to understand and control cancer
  • (2) generates independent sets of physical measurements and integrates them with existing knowledge of cancer
  • And (3) develops and evaluates approaches from the physical sciences to provide a comprehensive and dynamic picture of cancer. The P-PS-OC is particularly aimed at exploiting micro and nanofabrication technologies to probe the dynamics of evolution using high stress conditions, the stress can be mechanical, metabolic, chemical or thermal in nature. Our PS-OC has a deep physics core to it, we believe if we can somehow bring the hard sciences together with the biologists onto a completely new path that maybe we can crack the problem of resistance evolution in cancer, which is growing in many kinds of cancers, not decreasing.
