Genome Instability and Cancer Genetics Research Program

Program Leaders: Zhiyuan Shen, MD, PhD and Chang S. Chan, PhD

Overall Goals:

The overall goals are to uncover the genomic and epigenetic alterations in cancer in order to guide the treatment of cancer, and to understand the mechanisms that cause genomic instability and alterations.

Specific Aims:

  • To identify and elucidate the mechanisms of genomic instability that enables tumorigenesis
  • To determine the genomic and epigenetic landscapes of cancer

Our expectation is that a better understanding of the genetic and epigenetic landscape of cancer, and further elucidation of the basic mechanisms leading to the genomic alterations will result in the development and clinical validation of novel intervention strategies for cancer.
