Research Interests

  • My research focuses on understanding cellular processes at the single-molecule level by using novel single-molecule manipulation and imaging methods such as Optical Tweezers, smFRET, and PALM/STORM microscopy.
  • We are currently interested in innate immune response: 1) understanding how RIG-I recognizes viral RNA and how they come to be an active complex for further downstream signaling, 2) studying the dynamics of viral RNA and RIG-I distribution through single-molecule tracking inside a living cell, and 3) understanding RIG-I to MAVS on mitochondria membrane.
  • Our lab also tries to develop new single-molecule methods and advanced optical imaging methods for broader applications.
