Physician Profile

Linda J. Hipps, MD, FACOG

I recently joined Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey as a gynecologist within the Gynecologic Oncology Program to help bridge the two services. I am also an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.  I spent the last eight years at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/University of Washington Medical Center providing gynecologic care to all of our female cancer patients and offered them the expertise of my thirty years of experience. These women needed my help in managing issues with their  hormones, abnormal vaginal bleeding, contraception, sexuality and support to deal with the side effects tamoxifen an anti-estrogen medication often prescribed to reduce the recurrence of breast cancer. I am very fortunate that I can continue this work here in New Jersey at Rutgers Cancer Institute.

My area of interest is the diagnosis and management of abnormal Pap smears and as such I perform surgical procedures such as carbon dioxide (CO2) laser vaporization, hysterectomies, cervical conizations and excisional biopsies when needed. I also have experience in working with the medical oncology team of the Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program in helping patients manage vulvar and vaginal graft versus host disease (GVHD).

In addition to seeing patients at Rutgers Cancer Institute, I also see patients at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and its Eric B. Chandler Health Center, as well as teaching our residents.

I am proud to be part of a comprehensive cancer center like Rutgers Cancer Institute that provides the most advanced treatment options in New Jersey as well as supporting women with cancer to lead productive lives.
