Research Interests
- Currently interested in two fundamental cell and cancer biology questions: how asymmetrical cell division and cell polarity are controlled in normal development, and how these processes are deregulated during carcinogenesis? I derive and utilize genetically engineered mouse models, combined with biochemistry, and three-dimensional cell culture systems to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of critical polarity control pathways. Current effort is devoted to the genetic and biochemical analysis of a novel small GTPase cascade, and the impact of this signal transduction pathway on intestinal stem cell division and the development of colon cancer.
