Cooper University Hospital Offers CyberKnife Technology for Cancer Treatments
|
Camden, NJ – Cooper University Hospital is now offering a ground breaking cancer treatment tool. CyberKnife technology, one of the most advanced options in radiosurgery treatment for cancer patients is the first and only radiosurgery system designed to pinpoint and destroy tumors anywhere in the body. The addition of the new CyberKnife facility, located in Mount Laurel, N.J., makes Cooper the only hospital in the Delaware Valley to have both CyberKnife and Gamma Knife radiosurgery devices. These complementary technologies use highly accurate (sub-millimeter) beams of radiation to destroy cancer cells. These technologies are being used at Cooper to treat cancers of the brain, spine, lung, liver, pancreas and prostate. The CyberKnife is a precise, painless, non-invasive radiation treatment that can be an alternative to conventional surgery for patients with tumors considered inoperative or difficult to remove. The CyberKnife may also be used to treat patients who have been previously exposed to the maximum allowable dose of radiation but require further treatment. |
