At the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center, we do more than just treat cancer—we also ease minds, educate families and renew hope. We provide our patients with the most advanced diagnostic imaging tools, complete on-site laboratory, genetic counseling, therapeutic and nutritional counseling, rehabilitative services and participation in some of the most cutting-edge clinical trials.
Multidisciplinary Team
Our multidisciplinary team approach to cancer treatment brings the entire care team together to create an effective treatment plan for each patient. Our oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and pathologists meet on a regular basis to evaluate potential treatment options and to develop the best plan of action to treat your cancer. This multidisciplinary approach allows for the integration of our advanced technology therapies with the many other programs and support services offered at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center.

Clinical Research
The Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center is proud to be a clinical research affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. As a community hospital, we recognize the importance of staying close to home to receive cancer care and treatment. Through our affiliation with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, our patients will have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge clinical drug trials and research protocols without having to travel outside of their community.
Genetic Counseling
In collaboration with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the genetic counseling program at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center provides services to individuals and families who may be at risk for hereditary cancers. An initial consultation with a genetic counselor will help determine the likelihood that the cancer in your family is hereditary. The counselor will help you better understand available testing options and provide referrals to other health care professionals if needed.
Radiation Oncology Services
Our board certified radiation oncologist and highly trained staff offer the most technologically advanced radiation treatment options available, including:
- High Performance Linear Accelerators
- 3-D Conformal Therapy
- Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy
- Computed Tomography Simulation
- High Dose Rate Brachytherapy
- Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy
New patient orientation classes are offered for individuals starting therapy. Patients are introduced to the multidisciplinary team involved in all aspects of their care and are educated about their treatments.
Medical Oncology Services
The Cancer Center at Mountainside Hospital is home to two medical oncology practices specializing in medical oncology consultation and follow-up services, as well as infusion therapy and chemotherapy services. Our board-certified medical oncologists also offer services in private offices located within Essex County.
Patient and Family Support
The social work staff at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center is a valuable resource for any individual or family member facing cancer. The social work staff can assist you and your family with any non-medical problems related to your diagnosis, treatment or hospitalization. In addition to supportive counseling, our social service staff assists our patients with other services such as making transportation arrangements, financial assistance and accessing community resources. Some of our support services include:
- Short-term Individual and Family Counseling
- Referrals for Long-term Counseling
- Referrals to local and national advocacy and educational organizations
- Referrals to Wish Granting Programs
Our social work staff at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center also offers support groups and programs open to our patients and their loved ones. These programs are free of charge and are aimed at promoting a sense of well being and hope:
- Living with Cancer Support Group
- Look Good-Feel Better Program®, offered in partnership with the American Cancer Society
- Reiki Therapy
- Healing Stitches Knitting Group
